Our Mission
We develop cutting edge technologies that transform cell-based assays into physiologically predictive tools
Lena Biosciences, Inc. was established in 2008 with a goal of improving cell culture techniques by providing a more physiologically relevant method to predict human outcomes. In 2010, our SeedEZ 3D cell culturing scaffold was conceived allowing cells to grow in three dimensions the way they grow in living tissues. In 2016, our Perfused Organ Panel microphysiological system was born, combining tissue-like 3D cell cultures with perfusion using our proprietary hemoglobin analog, Blood Substitute. This biomimetic cell culturing method enriches oxygen supply to cells and mimics in vivo pericellular perfusion providing an advanced framework to study pharmacodynamics and cell interactions in vitro.
At Lena Biosciences, we offer innovative 3D cell culture products to make in vitro drug metabolism and drug discovery research more efficient and cost-effective. Our goal is to expand the capabilities of our current technology and answer questions that are beyond reach for researchers using standard 2D cell culture methods. Our patented products are backed by prestigious awards from the National Institute of Health, the National Science Foundation, the Georgia Research Alliance and the Marcus Foundation. Our office is located in the Advanced Technology Development Center at the Georgia Institute of Technology campus.
